Katrina Kaif In A Small Role

Despite a setback in the form of Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj, Katrina Kaif is the numero-uno actress of Bollywood, both from the audience as well as the latest newspaper poll.

You expect to see a lot of Katrina Kaif in a film co-starring Akshay Kumar . But that may not happen in Blue , the Ashtavinayak production being directed by Anthony D'Souza . Katrina Kaif has just a minuscule role in one of her upcoming movies.

Lara Dutta is the film's leading lady, Katrina will just have an item number and a few scenes in the flick. There have been rumours that her role has been extended to bring more star value to the project, but the actress has confirmed that she's a very small role in 'Blue'.

According to a source close to the film's unit, Katrina is paired with Akshay in the film but her character is killed after just two or three scenes. The source goes on to add that Katrina has been in full know of the length of her character from the start.

Last year was a pretty good one for Katrina with one super-hit, Singh Is Kinng, one hit Race and a flop in Yuvraaj. Hello too scraped through to safety, although Katrina's role was a very short guest appearance.

However, a look at the list of films that Katrina has up her sleeves in 2009, it appears that she is going to retain her number one spot. Coming up in May will be Yash Raj's New York, where she will seen sharing screen space with John Abraham, Irrfan Khan and Neil Mukesh.

Then there is Prakash Jha's political thriller Rajniti, where she will sport a totally de-glam look. It will be followed by Shree Ashtavinayak's action-thriller, Blue, with her favourite and lucky co-star, Akshay Kumar along with Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta.

Another film that she is looking forward to is Priyadarshan's De Dhana Dan, once again with Akshay and the cast of Hera Pheri. And then there is Party and Rave, both of which are in pre-production.
